Hey, I haven’t posted anything here in years so I figure I’d write a better post to be at the top of the page.
Right now the group is inactive because there aren’t any anime we want to work on. At least none I have time to attempt. 90+% of anime have an official version at this point and I don’t see much point in fansubbing a series every week if there’s going to be a perfectly decent legal alternative coming out days beforehand.
So right now I’m focusing on scanlating manga and translating novels.
That’s all on my other site, Hi Wa Mata Noboru.
We recently finished the long-running shounen manga Toriko, and currently ongoing we’re doing Gintama, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 8 – JoJolion, Innocent, 3-Gatsu no Lion, 81diver, and Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi!
3-Gatsu no Lion has an anime airing as I write this. Though it’ll probably end around volume 6-7 and we’ve finished up to what’s out in Japan at the moment and are trying to stay up to date on it (Volume 12). And for fans of Toriko, Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi! is the first series Toriko’s author, Shimabukuro-sensei, wrote. If you liked Toriko I think you’ll enjoy it. I’m also working on some of the Jojo novels, which are a pretty lengthy process. Anyhow I hope you guys check some of that stuff out.
Hey, the 10th anniversary of this group is… like a week ago or so.
I’m not entirely sure of the exact day as I wasn’t here when it started, nor is anyone else. Edit: According to IzumiShiro who just stopped by again, the official start date is 10-26-04. I joined in April of 2005. But this group originally started November 14th of 2014 by IzumiShiro and Xero. Izumi stops by the IRC channel every once in a while to say hi, but I haven’t seen him in a while. One of those times he told me the group started on November 14th 2004, he thinks. Xero left after a few months I think. I never talked to him, I think he was Izumi’s friend and didn’t have time to work on the group anymore. The projects they did when they started were:
Ah! My Goddess (Ah! Megumi-sama!!!)
Lime Iro Ryuukitan X CROSS
Konjiki no Gash Bell!!! Gash!!!
Mahoraba -Heartful Days-
And I think they only did a few of those for the most part. Mostly because of poor management, to be honest. I started to work on Gash Bell and had to deal with that management thing for a while back when I was 15 before Gash Bell got settled into being released on a regular basis. A lot of which had to do with fixing the hosting for the site, rebuilding the site several times, dealing with horrible group members, dealing with group members that didn’t exist at all seemingly, and that sorta thing. Anyhow, a lot of people have come and gone in that time and apparently not all that many groups exist for this long so I thought I’d mention it. Here’s a list of everyone that’s been on the staff at any given point. Generally in the order the joined or quit, but most that quit just stopped showing up or we no longer had anything for them to work on, so it’s not exact. And some just helped out when we didn’t have anybody, things like that. So I thought I’d mention it.
Kotono (Lachette, Belldandy)
Uh, I’m still too busy with other stuff to try to take on any more anime. Like I mentioned in the last post. And I’m not sure if we have enough staff that have time to actually finish any, but we’ll see what happens in the future. Then there’s also the fact that most good anime are licensed by some official sub that’s either simulcast or subbed within a week. It’s a very different world from when I was 15 and couldn’t find any place to watch Gash Bell. Ah, nostalgia. Anyhow, just thought I’d mention this.
Hey, I realized I’d never made batch torrents for the last third of Toriko. So we got that setup.
Here’re the links for the whole series now:
Also, someone made this at some point. It might have more seeds than the earlier torrents. I might try to setup prefix’s seedbox to seed the earlier torrents for a while.
Also, this was something we’d finished a while ago (After a huge number of problems delaying it), Konjiki no Gash Bell!! OVA 2. We weren’t gonna release it until we finished Movie 2 but that still needs a lot of work and it doesn’t look like it’s gonna be happening soon. So I’m just gonna post it now and maybe we’ll get to Movie 2 at some point.
Otherwise, nothing’s changed really. I’m focusing on scanlating and getting some back projects in that area done. If either Kingdom or Toriko continue at some point I’d like to work on those if we can at the time. If you wanna check out the stuff I’m working on, the site I lead is here:
and I work on a bunch of other groups and I generally post my translations and list which group it’s for here:
Hey, for those still waiting for it, we’re shifting the Doubutsu no Kuni project to my manga group, Hi Wa Mata Noboru.
There’s a status report on that there:
Hi, I’m having to transfer the website to a new server. So pardon the appearance as we get it setup and fix any problems.
Ok, we ended up having to transfer servers today because of a problem with the old one. I had to pay most of what we’d had saved in donations to pay for this site server. Previously we were getting our site for free, but we had to move it to one we’re paying for. So if anyone could be so kind as to donate to make sure we can keep the site up and running in the future, we here at anime-destiny would all really appreciate it. You can do so using the button on the sidebar. They accept paypal or credit (and I think debit) cards.
Coincidentally this was all on the same day we released the first episode of our new series we’re working on, Kingdom. It’s based on a popular manga that runs in Young Jump which I really like, so I hope you’ll give it a chance. The series is set to be 38 episodes long. The first episode is double length, and it airs on Mondays. The plan currently is to softsub the whole episode and only release two encodes (one x264 480p and one 10HiP 720p), and see how that goes. It’ll save a lot of staff time and effort and help avoid delays. If there’s enough demand for an x264 version of the 720p, we can also do that, if necessary. Most codec packs and players allow you to watch 10HiP at this point if they’re up to date.
Also, we could really use another Timer and QCer to help work on this project, as some of the staff will sometimes be too busy to work on this. If you have experience and want to apply, email me at Kewl0210@gmail.com or private message me on the IRC channel (#email@example.com).
Don’t let it slip away.
Just an update on things, once everyone is done with finals we’re gonna finish the rest of Bakuman and release it as a batch. A lot’s partially done. I wanna get the back projects like Doubutsu no Kuni going/finished, too. And depending on what’s licensed in the next season or two, we may start subbing a new anime.
From now on we’ll be doing an additional 720p in 10bit color depth. Because we’re so gosh-darn accommodating.
Hey, we’re not dropping Toriko.
Or at least, I’ve got no plans to. But as you can see, I’m just in the middle of trying to update our website and basically because I was never able to find someone experienced to do it I’ve been trying to do it myself. I haven’t settled on a theme yet but I’ve been trying to at least get the basic stuff on here.
The only thing is we don’t have enough people on staff to do the project by ourselves. Really, we wouldn’t have started a joint in the first place if we did. And SGKK didn’t discuss with us about them dropping it at all. In fact they haven’t discussed jack shit with us, essentially they just told us “do your jobs then shut up” for the past 7 weeks or so whenever I asked them anything. Usually just ignoring me completely and not letting us into any of the processes besides translating and distro.
We have staff for most of the jobs but it’s just a lot of them aren’t active enough to do this every week, and I’m gonna need new people in order to continue the series.
Here are the job positions we need to fill as of now (I’ll update this as things develop):
Timer – Needs experience timing, including fine timing, and needs to be available on Sundays/Mondays to time this show on a weekly basis.
Editor – Needs experience editing anime (as in proofreading, improving grammar and vernacular language). Also needs to be available on Sunday/Monday to do this show efficiently and on a weekly basis.
Typesetter – Needs experience typsetting signs. Toriko doesn’t have many besides the beast descriptions, but we need someone dedicated to this job on Sunday/Monday, too. We also need someone to do the typsetting for the attack effects, for which we should be able to reuse the ones we’ve used so far for.
Karaoke Typesetter – Available to design and time new OP/EDs. Also needed to design attack effects.
I may be able to ask people in other groups I work with to join us and do some of these jobs. And I’m pretty confident we can handle the other jobs, also some of the less active members of the staff can probably help with these on occasion, too. But for now I’ll just leave this here. If you’re dedicated and want to join then either email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or send me a PM in our IRC channel, #email@example.com
I use the same username there, “animedes”.
Also I need to find somebody to help me make this site better. For now I’m just going to work on modifying this WordPress site until it’s got everything the previous site had. I’m fine with someone designing a whole new site, too. It’s the same contact information for if you want to help with that.
Thanks for your dedication guys, and I really hope some people will be willing to help us out with this.
And obviously, the next episode is gonna be delayed until there’s a person to do every job.
Edit: Ok, I think we got all the jobs filled besides someone to redesign the website (I’d still really appreciate anyone willing and able to do that). Thanks to everyone who tried out.
Please be patient guys as we try to get used to our new setup. Like I said, SGKK didn’t tell me shit so apparently they’ve been doing nothing for 2 days since I translated episode 11. So now we’re starting it with a new staff for most jobs and have to get used to everything, so it could take longer than usual.
Edit 2: Ok, so we have a webmaster now. Thanks to everybody who volunteered.
We’re trying to work out a few things with Toriko 11 because we’re doing it solo now, and things are pretty crazy this week because of all that’s been going on and we’re not in sync with when each job gets done yet, so it’ll take some time to get done. I’ll try to make sure it gets done before the next episode airs.
Edit 3: Sorry for the downtime guys. I fixed it.
All we’ve got left is redesigning the attack effects, followed by final checks, for Toriko 11. Hopefully it won’t take long.
